Article L581-6 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

If they are required to hold a residence permit, members of the family of a foreign national enjoying temporary protection who have obtained the right to join him/her on the basis of the provisions of Article 15 of Council Directive 2001/55/EC of 20 July 2001 shall automatically receive a temporary residence document of the same type as that held by the person they have come to join, unless their presence constitutes a threat to public order.

S’ils sont astreints à la détention d’un titre de séjour, les membres de la famille d’un étranger bénéficiant de la protection temporaire qui ont obtenu le droit de le rejoindre sur le fondement des dispositions de l’article 15 de la directive 2001/55/CE du Conseil du 20 juillet 2001 reçoivent de plein droit un document provisoire de séjour de même nature que celui détenu par la personne qu’ils sont venus rejoindre, sauf si leur présence constitue une menace à l’ordre public.
