Article L614-9 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The president of the administrative tribunal, or the magistrate that he designates for this purpose from among the members of his court, or the honorary magistrates registered on the list mentioned in article L. 222-2-1 of the code of administrative justice, shall rule no later than ninety-six hours from the expiry of the time limit for appeal.
In the event that the decision to place the person under house arrest or in detention is taken during the course of proceedings, the president of the administrative court or the magistrate appointed for this purpose shall rule within one hundred and forty-four hours of notification of this decision by the administrative authority to the court.

Le président du tribunal administratif, ou le magistrat qu’il désigne à cette fin parmi les membres de sa juridiction, ou les magistrats honoraires inscrits sur la liste mentionnée à l’article L. 222-2-1 du code de justice administrative, statue au plus tard quatre-vingt-seize heures à compter de l’expiration du délai de recours.
Dans le cas où la décision d’assignation à résidence ou de placement en rétention intervient en cours d’instance, le président du tribunal administratif ou le magistrat désigné à cette fin statue dans un délai de cent quarante-quatre heures à compter de la notification de cette décision par l’autorité administrative au tribunal.
