Article L6211-13 of the French Public Health Code

When the sampling for a medical biology examination cannot be carried out in the medical biology laboratory within a timeframe compatible with the patient’s state of health, it may be carried out in a health establishment, in an army hospital, at the patient’s home or in places where this is possible, by an authorised health professional in accordance with procedures determined with the biologist in charge of the laboratory referred to in article L. 6211-11.

The categories of healthcare professionals authorised to carry out the sampling, as well as the places and conditions in which it may be carried out, are laid down by order of the Minister for Health.

Lorsque le prélèvement d’un examen de biologie médicale ne peut être réalisé dans le laboratoire de biologie médicale dans des délais compatibles avec l’état de santé du patient, il peut être réalisé dans un établissement de santé, dans un hôpital des armées, au domicile du patient ou dans des lieux en permettant la réalisation, par un professionnel de santé autorisé conformément aux procédures déterminées avec le biologiste responsable du laboratoire mentionné à l’article L. 6211-11.

Les catégories de professionnels de santé autorisés à réaliser le prélèvement ainsi que les lieux et les conditions permettant sa réalisation sont fixés par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé.
