The Maison de Santé is a legal entity formed by medical professionals, medical auxiliaries or pharmacists.
These professionals provide primary care without accommodation within the meaning of article L. 1411-11 and, where appropriate, secondary care within the meaning of article L. 1411-12 , and may take part in public health, prevention, health education and social actions within the framework of the health project they draw up and in compliance with specifications laid down by order of the Minister for Health.
A university multi-professional nursing home is a nursing home that has signed a tripartite agreement with its regional health agency and a public scientific, cultural and professional establishment that includes a medical, pharmaceutical or dental training and research unit, the purpose of which is to develop training and research in primary care. The operating, organisational and assessment procedures for these university multidisciplinary health centres are set by joint order of the ministers for health and higher education.
The health project is compatible with the guidelines of the regional plans mentioned in article L. 1434-2. It is sent to the regional health agency for information. This healthcare plan is signed by each of the healthcare professionals who are members of the nursing home. It may also be signed by any person whose participation in the planned actions is explicitly provided for in the healthcare project.
The maisons de santé can set up a medically-prescribed pathway to support children aged between three and twelve inclusive who, according to the criteria set by the Haute Autorité de santé, are overweight or have uncomplicated obesity or risk factors for obesity. The programme includes a physical activity assessment, as well as dietetic and psychological assessment and follow-up sessions. In agreement with the child’s parents or legal representative, the programme is implemented in collaboration with the national education doctor at the school where the child is enrolled and, where appropriate, with the doctor treating the child or the doctor from the maternal and child protection service.
