Article L651-5 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

In French Guyana, when the crew of a vessel engaged in illegal fishing activities is forced by the administrative authority to go ashore, its members may be deported automatically, with their agreement and at the State’s expense, to Venezuela, Brazil, Surinam or Guyana depending on whether they are nationals of one of these States. The administrative authority shall take all measures to this end within a period that may not exceed forty-eight hours.

En Guyane, lorsque l’équipage d’un navire se livrant à des activités de pêche illicite est contraint par l’autorité administrative de se rendre à terre, ses membres peuvent être éloignés d’office, avec leur accord et aux frais de l’Etat, à destination du Venezuela, du Brésil, du Surinam ou de la Guyana selon qu’ils ont la nationalité de l’un de ces Etats. L’autorité administrative prend toutes mesures à cette fin dans un délai qui ne peut excéder quarante-huit heures.
