Pursuant to the Monetary Agreement between the European Union and the French Republic on the maintenance of the euro in Saint-Barthélemy, following its change of status with regard to the European Union on 12 July 2011, the legal acts and rules of the European Union necessary for the proper functioning of Economic and Monetary Union shall apply as of right, relating to euro banknotes and coins, the prevention of fraud and counterfeiting of cash and non-cash means of payment, medals and tokens, and the measures necessary for the use of the euro as the single currency adopted on the basis of Article 133 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
The legal acts and rules of European Union law necessary for the proper functioning of Economic and Monetary Union relating to banking and financial legislation, including legal acts adopted by the European Central Bank, the prevention of money laundering and the statistical reporting requirements established by the Eurosystem shall also apply automatically.
