A territorial authority may not organise a local referendum:
1° As from the first day of the sixth month preceding that in which the general renewal or the renewal of a series of members of its deliberative assembly is to be held;
2° During the campaign or on the polling day scheduled for consultations organised within its jurisdiction on the basis of the last paragraph of Article 72-1, of Article 72-4 and of the last paragraph of Article 73 of the Constitution.
No territorial authority may hold a local referendum during the campaign or on the polling days provided for :
1° The general renewal or the renewal of a series of members of the deliberative assemblies of the territorial communities;
2° The general renewal of the deputies ;
3° The renewal of each series of senators;
4° The election of members of the European Parliament;
5° The election of the President of the Republic;
6° A referendum decided by the President of the Republic.
The deliberation organising a local referendum lapses in the cases provided for in this article or in the event of the dissolution of the deliberative assembly of the territorial community that decided on it, the resignation of all its members or the definitive annulment of their election.
A territorial community may not hold several local referendums on the same subject within a period of less than one year.
