Article LO6252-17 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The President of the Territorial Council or his representative participates, at his request, within the French delegation, in negotiations with the European Union and the European Community relating to Saint-Barthélemy’s relations with the latter.

The President of the Territorial Council may ask the State to take the initiative in negotiations with the European Union and the European Community with a view to obtaining specific measures useful to the development of the collectivity.

Le président du conseil territorial ou son représentant participe, à sa demande, au sein de la délégation française, aux négociations avec l’Union européenne et la Communauté européenne relatives aux relations de Saint-Barthélemy avec ces dernières.

Le président du conseil territorial peut demander à l’Etat de prendre l’initiative de négociations avec l’Union européenne et la Communauté européenne en vue d’obtenir des mesures spécifiques utiles au développement de la collectivité.
