Article R1112-31 of the French Public Health Code

Prisoners are hospitalised under the general regime. However, by express decision of the Minister of Justice, taken in application of article D. 115-25 of the Penitentiary Code, they may be treated, at their own expense, under a special regime or in the private practice sector of hospital practitioners, if the supervision provided for in article R. 1112-30 does not inconvenience other patients.

Les détenus sont hospitalisés en régime commun. Cependant, sur décision expresse du ministre de la justice, prise en application de l’article D. 115-25 du code pénitentiaire, ils peuvent être traités, à leurs frais, en régime particulier ou dans le secteur de l’activité libérale des praticiens hospitaliers, si la surveillance prévue à l’article R. 1112-30 ne gêne pas les autres malades.
