Article R1112-43 of the French Public Health Code

If a patient does not accept the treatment, intervention or care offered to him, his discharge, except in the case of a medically certified emergency requiring other care, shall be ordered by the Director after the patient has signed a document stating his refusal to accept the proposed care. If the patient refuses to sign this document, a record of this refusal is drawn up.

Lorsqu’un malade n’accepte pas le traitement, l’intervention ou les soins qui lui sont proposés, sa sortie, sauf urgence médicalement constatée nécessitant d’autres soins, est prononcée par le directeur après signature par l’hospitalisé d’un document constatant son refus d’accepter les soins proposés. Si le malade refuse de signer ce document, un procès-verbal de ce refus est dressé.
