Article R1113-6 of the French Public Health Code

All items left behind by the person admitted or accommodated on discharge are deposited if they had not been deposited previously and unless the person gives instructions to the contrary. These items are also deposited in the event of death. The person admitted or accommodated, his legal representative in the case of a minor or, in the case of an adult subject to a legal protection measure with representation relating to the person, the person responsible for the measure, his family or close friends shall be notified.

In the case provided for in article R. 1113-3, the objects are returned to the custodian and a note of this is made in the special register.

Tous les objets abandonnés par la personne admise ou hébergée à sa sortie sont déposés s’il n’avait pas été procédé à leur dépôt auparavant et sauf instructions contraires de sa part. Ces objets sont également déposés en cas de décès. La personne admise ou hébergée, son représentant légal s’il s’agit d’un mineur ou, s’il s’agit d’un majeur faisant l’objet d’une mesure de protection juridique avec représentation relative à la personne, la personne chargée à son égard de la mesure, sa famille ou ses proches en sont avisés.

Dans le cas prévu à l’article R. 1113-3, les objets sont remis au dépositaire, et mention en est faite sur le registre spécial.
