Before prescribing the examination of genetic characteristics referred to in article R. 1131-20-1, the prescribing doctor shall ask the person whether he or she has donated gametes or, where applicable, whether the couple of which he or she is a member has consented to the reception of his or her embryos by another couple. In these situations, the prescribing doctor informs the person that he/she may, with his/her authorisation, inform the head of the medically assisted procreation centre of the existence of the genetic anomaly in question as soon as the diagnosis is confirmed, so that the latter can inform the persons born from the donation.
If the person consents, he or she gives written authorisation to the prescribing doctor, who will certify this, to inform the head of the medically assisted procreation centre. The person must provide the doctor with the contact details of the medically assisted procreation centre where the donation took place or of the centre where the embryos are or were stored.
In the absence of such authorisation, the doctor will record the person’s refusal in the medical record.
