Article R1213-5 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The ten representatives of the municipalities and their alternates are elected by the College of French Mayors, by a one-round majority list ballot, with complete lists submitted, without adding or deleting names and without changing the order of presentation.

The list is composed alternately of one candidate of each sex.

It shall include a majority of elected representatives exercising the executive functions of mayor, district mayor, deputy mayor or deputy mayor within the municipal councils.

Les dix représentants des communes et leurs suppléants sont élus par le collège des maires de France, au scrutin majoritaire de liste à un tour, avec dépôt de listes complètes, sans adjonction ni suppression de noms et sans modification de l’ordre de présentation.

La liste est composée alternativement d’un candidat de chaque sexe.

Elle comporte une majorité d’élus exerçant au sein des conseils municipaux les fonctions exécutives de maire, de maire d’arrondissement, de maire délégué ou d’adjoint au maire.
