Article R1222-20 of the French Public Health Code

The medical responsibility for blood collection referred to in article L. 1221-3 and responsibility for the safety of donors are ensured by the medical officer in charge of blood collection at the blood establishment.

This function may only be carried out by a doctor who has the authorisation provided for in I of article R. 1222-17.

La responsabilité médicale du prélèvement mentionnée à l’article L. 1221-3 et la responsabilité de la sécurité des donneurs sont assurées par le responsable médical du prélèvement de l’établissement de transfusion sanguine.

Peut seul exercer cette fonction un médecin qui bénéficie de l’habilitation prévue au I de l’article R. 1222-17.
