The National Council of Sworn Freight Brokers is made up of members elected by sworn freight brokers.
In each Court of Appeal, the sworn brokers elect one member of the National Council of Sworn Brokers when the number of sworn brokers practising within the jurisdiction of that Court is between nine and fifteen. They elect two members when the number of sworn brokers is between sixteen and twenty-five. Where the number of sworn brokers exceeds twenty-five, the sworn brokers elect three members of the Conseil national des courtiers de marchandises assermentés.
If, within the jurisdiction of the court of appeal, the number of sworn brokers is less than nine, the members of the Conseil national des courtiers de marchandises assermentés are elected by a college made up of sworn brokers from the jurisdiction and those practising in one or more neighbouring courts of appeal. This grouping is determined by order of the Minister of Justice. The number of members elected to the Conseil national des courtiers de marchandises assermentés is then determined under the same conditions as in the previous paragraph.
The members of the National Council of Sworn Freight Brokers are elected for three years and their term of office is renewable once; they are not eligible for re-election until three years after the expiry of their second term of office.
