The networks and installations defined in 1° and 2° ofarticle R. 1321-43 must be cleaned, rinsed and disinfected before being put into service or put back into service. The person responsible for producing or distributing the water must ensure that these operations are effective and that the quality of the water is maintained before it is put into service for the first time and after any operation likely to cause a deterioration in this quality.
The tanks in these networks and installations must be emptied, cleaned, rinsed and disinfected at least once a year. However, when operating conditions permit and the water distributed shows no sign of deterioration in quality, the person responsible for water production or distribution may ask the Prefect to reduce the frequency of emptying, cleaning, rinsing and disinfection. If this request for authorisation remains unanswered for more than four months, the decision is deemed to have been accepted.
The Director General of the Regional Health Agency is kept informed by the person responsible for water production or distribution of disinfection operations carried out during operation.
