Article R1331-19 of the French Public Health Code

Attics may be made available for residential use if they meet the following cumulative conditions:

-the solidity of the floor guarantees the safety of occupancy ;

-they meet the requirements for ceiling height, openings to the outside, lighting and configuration set out in articles R. 1331-20 to R. 1331-23 respectively;

-they are fitted out for residential use.

Article R1331-19

Les combles peuvent être mis à disposition aux fins d’habitation s’ils répondent aux conditions cumulatives suivantes :

-la solidité du plancher garantit la sécurité de l’occupation ;

-ils satisfont aux exigences de hauteur sous-plafond, d’ouverture sur l’extérieur, d’éclairement et de configuration posées respectivement par les articles R. 1331-20 à R. 1331-23 ;

-ils sont aménagés à usage d’habitation.
