Article R1413-84 of the French Public Health Code

The Director General of the Regional Health Agency shall designate a health establishment in which the support centre for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections is to be located, for a renewable period of five years, after obtaining the opinion of the Director General of the National Public Health Agency. The centre is located in a health establishment and may include several units housed in other health establishments in the region.

This designation is made following a call for applications in accordance with a set of specifications with which the centres must comply and which is defined by an order of the minister responsible for health. These specifications specify, in particular, the nature of the centres’ work and how it is to be organised.

The head of the centre, whose identity is stated in the application form, is a doctor or pharmacist with expertise in hospital hygiene or the prevention of infectious risks.

The Director General of the Regional Health Agency may use the support centre for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections in another region to pool the performance of some of the tasks mentioned in Article R. 1413-83, with the agreement of the Director General of the relevant Regional Health Agency.

Article R1413-84

Le directeur général de l’agence régionale de santé désigne un établissement de santé dans lequel le centre d’appui pour la prévention des infections associées aux soins est implanté, pour une durée de cinq ans renouvelable, après avis du directeur général de l’Agence nationale de santé publique. Le centre est implanté dans un établissement de santé et peut comporter plusieurs unités hébergées dans d’autres établissements de santé de la région.

Cette désignation a lieu après appel à candidatures selon un cahier des charges auquel les centres doivent se conformer et qui est défini par un arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé. Ce cahier des charges précise notamment la nature des travaux des centres et leur organisation.

Le responsable du centre, dont l’identité figure dans l’acte de candidature, est un médecin ou un pharmacien compétent en hygiène hospitalière ou en prévention des risques infectieux.

Le directeur général de l’agence régionale de santé peut recourir au centre d’appui pour la prévention des infections associées aux soins d’une autre région pour mutualiser l’accomplissement de certaines des missions mentionnées à l’article R. 1413-83, avec l’accord du directeur général de l’agence régionale de santé compétent.
