The regional antibiotic therapy centre is located in a healthcare establishment and may include several units located in other healthcare establishments in the region. It is appointed by the Director General of the Regional Health Agency, after consultation with the Director General of the National Public Health Agency, for a renewable period of five years, following a call for candidates on the basis of specifications defined by order of the Minister for Health. These specifications specify in particular the nature of the centres’ work and how it is to be organised.
The head of the centre is a qualified doctor specialising in infectious and tropical diseases.
