Article R221-1 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The summons to pay provided for in article L. 221-1 contains, under penalty of nullity:
1° Mention of the writ of execution by virtue of which the proceedings are being carried out with a separate breakdown of the sums claimed in principal, costs and accrued interest as well as an indication of the interest rate;
2° A summons to pay the debt within a period of eight days, failing which the debtor may be forced to do so by the forced sale of his movable property.

Le commandement de payer prévu à l’article L. 221-1 contient à peine de nullité :
1° Mention du titre exécutoire en vertu duquel les poursuites sont exercées avec le décompte distinct des sommes réclamées en principal, frais et intérêts échus ainsi que l’indication du taux des intérêts ;
2° Commandement d’avoir à payer la dette dans un délai de huit jours faute de quoi il peut y être contraint par la vente forcée de ses biens meubles.
