Article R221-34 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The sale is advertised by posters indicating the place, day and time of the sale and the nature of the assets seized.
The posters shall be affixed at the town hall of the municipality in which the distrainee debtor resides and at the place of sale. This compulsory publicity is carried out on expiry of the period provided for in the last paragraph of article R. 221-31 and at least eight days before the date set for the sale. The bailiff certifies that the advertising formalities have been completed.

La publicité de la vente est effectuée par affiches indiquant les lieu, jour et heure de celle-ci et la nature des biens saisis.
Les affiches sont apposées à la mairie de la commune où demeure le débiteur saisi et au lieu de la vente. Cette publicité obligatoire est faite à l’expiration du délai prévu au dernier alinéa de l’article R. 221-31 et huit jours au moins avant la date fixée pour la vente.
La vente peut également être annoncée par voie de presse.
L’huissier de justice certifie l’accomplissement des formalités de publicité.
