Article R249-12 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The information recorded in the processing is kept in the active database until the prosecution is terminated or, where a case has been referred to a court, until the last court to which the case was referred has given a final ruling in a decision on the merits of the case or, where a conviction has been handed down, until the end of the enforcement of the sentence handed down to the person concerned or, in the absence of such enforcement, until the sentence has become time-barred.

Notwithstanding the provisions of the first paragraph, the minutes of a judgment or ruling are kept in the active database for a period of eight years from the date of its pronouncement.
Once these periods have elapsed, the data and documents are kept in an inactive database for their administrative useful life, in accordance with the rules applicable to the intermediate archiving of court files.

The provisions of the preceding paragraphs are applicable to all court files.
The provisions of the preceding paragraphs do not apply to the single personality file, which is kept in accordance with the provisions of Decree no. 2014-472 of 9 May 2014 taken for the application of Articles L. 322-8 to L. 322-10 of the Juvenile Criminal Justice Code relating to the single personality file.

Les informations enregistrées dans le traitement sont conservées en base active jusqu’à l’extinction de l’action publique ou, lorsqu’une juridiction a été saisie, jusqu’à ce que la dernière juridiction saisie ait statué définitivement par une décision rendue au fond dans la procédure concernée ou, lorsqu’une condamnation a été prononcée, jusqu’à la fin de l’exécution de la peine prononcée à l’encontre de la personne concernée ou, à défaut d’une telle exécution, jusqu’à l’acquisition de la prescription de cette peine.

Par dérogation aux dispositions du premier alinéa, la minute d’un jugement ou d’un arrêt est conservée en base active pendant une durée de huit ans à compter de la date de son prononcé.

A l’issue de ces durées, les données et documents sont conservées en base inactive pour leur durée d’utilité administrative, selon les règles applicables en matière d’archivage intermédiaire des dossiers des juridictions.

Les dispositions des alinéas qui précèdent ne sont pas applicables au dossier unique de personnalité qui est conservé conformément aux dispositions du décret n° 2014-472 du 9 mai 2014 pris pour l’application des articles L. 322-8 à L. 322-10 du code de la justice pénale des mineurs relatif au dossier unique de personnalité.
