Article R27 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Before the First President of the Court of Appeal, the applicant and the judicial agent of the State may be assisted or represented by a lawyer.

Where a party is assisted by a lawyer, the notifications by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt provided for by the following articles are made to the lawyer alone and a copy is sent by simple letter to the party. Where a party is represented by a lawyer, such notifications shall be made in the same manner to the lawyer alone.

Devant le premier président de la cour d’appel, le demandeur et l’agent judiciaire de l’Etat peuvent être assistés ou représentés par un avocat.

Lorsqu’une partie est assistée par un avocat, les notifications par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception prévues par les articles suivants sont faites au seul avocat et copie en est adressée par lettre simple à la partie. Lorsqu’une partie est représentée par un avocat, ces notifications sont faites dans les mêmes formes au seul avocat.
