Article R3121-12 of the French Labour Code

Authorisation to exceed the maximum average weekly working time provided for in article L. 3121-25 may be granted in one of the following ways:
1° If the average weekly working time of forty-six hours is exceeded over a period of twelve consecutive weeks;
2° If the average weekly working time is exceeded over a period of more than twelve weeks;
3° If a combination of the above two methods is used.
The authorisation decision specifies the type, extent and other conditions of the authorised excess.

L’autorisation de dépassement à la durée hebdomadaire maximale moyenne prévue à l’article L. 3121-25 revêt l’une des modalités suivantes :
1° Le dépassement de la durée moyenne hebdomadaire de quarante-six heures sur une période de douze semaines consécutives ;
2° La répartition de cette même moyenne sur une période de plus de douze semaines ;
3° La combinaison des deux modalités précédentes.
La décision d’autorisation précise la modalité, l’ampleur et les autres conditions du dépassement autorisé.
