Article R322-72 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The successful bidder at the initial sale retains the costs charged at the time of the auction. After a period of two months following the initial sale, he is liable for interest at the legal rate on his bid until the new sale.
The person declared the successful bidder at the new auction is liable for the costs of the new auction.

L’adjudicataire défaillant de la vente initiale conserve à sa charge les frais taxés lors de cette adjudication. Passé un délai de deux mois suivant celle-ci, il est tenu des intérêts au taux légal sur son enchère jusqu’à la nouvelle vente.
La personne déclarée adjudicataire à l’issue de la nouvelle adjudication doit les frais afférents à celle-ci.
