Article R4127-237 of the French Public Health Code

Subject to the provisions of article L. 1111-5 and except in the cases provided for in article R. 4127-236, the dental surgeon attached to an establishment with an internship system must, in the presence of a serious condition, notify the patient’s legal representative if the patient is a minor or the person in charge of the legal protection measure with representation relating to the person, if the patient is an adult subject to such a protective measure and is not capable of expressing his or her wishes, and accept or provoke, if he or she deems it useful, consultation with the practitioner designated by the patient, his or her legal representative or the person in charge of the protective measure.

Sous réserve des dispositions de l’article L. 1111-5 et hors les cas prévus à l’article R. 4127-236, le chirurgien-dentiste attaché à un établissement comportant le régime de l’internat doit, en présence d’une affection grave, faire avertir le représentant légal du patient s’il s’agit d’un mineur ou la personne chargée de la mesure de protection juridique avec représentation relative à la personne, si le patient est un majeur faisant l’objet d’une telle mesure de protection et n’est pas apte à exprimer sa volonté, et accepter ou provoquer, s’il le juge utile, la consultation du praticien désigné par le patient, son représentant légal ou la personne chargée de la mesure de protection.
