Article R4127-333 of the French Public Health Code

The practice of the profession of midwife normally involves the drawing up by the midwife, in accordance with the observations she is able to make, of the certificates, attestations and documents the production of which is prescribed by legislative and regulatory texts.

Prescriptions, certificates, attestations and documents must be written in French, allow the midwife to be identified and bear her handwritten signature. A translation into the patient’s language may be provided.

L’exercice de la profession de sage-femme comporte normalement l’établissement par la sage-femme, conformément aux constatations qu’elle est en mesure de faire, des certificats, attestations et documents dont la production est prescrite par les textes législatifs et réglementaires.

Les prescriptions, certificats, attestations ou documents doivent être rédigés en langue française, permettre l’identification de la sage-femme et comporter sa signature manuscrite. Une traduction dans la langue de la patiente peut être remise à celle-ci.
