Article R4127-61 of the French Public Health Code

When the opinions of the consultant and the attending physician differ profoundly following a consultation, the patient must be informed. The attending physician is free to cease treatment if the consultant’s opinion prevails in the eyes of the patient or those close to the patient.

Quand les avis du consultant et du médecin traitant diffèrent profondément, à la suite d’une consultation, le malade doit en être informé. Le médecin traitant est libre de cesser ses soins si l’avis du consultant prévaut auprès du malade ou de son entourage.
