Article R4127-62 of the French Public Health Code

The consultant must not, on his own initiative, during the course of the illness which gave rise to the consultation, summon or re-examine the patient, except in an emergency, without informing the attending physician.

He must not, unless the patient wishes otherwise, continue the care required by the patient’s condition when such care is the responsibility of the attending physician, and he must provide the latter with all the information necessary for monitoring the patient.

Le consultant ne doit pas de sa propre initiative, au cours de la maladie ayant motivé la consultation, convoquer ou réexaminer, sauf urgence, le malade sans en informer le médecin traitant.

Il ne doit pas, sauf volonté contraire du malade, poursuivre les soins exigés par l’état de celui-ci lorsque ces soins sont de la compétence du médecin traitant et il doit donner à ce dernier toutes informations nécessaires pour le suivi du patient.
