Article R4127-74 of the French Public Health Code

The practice of mobile medicine is prohibited.

However, when the needs of public health so require, a doctor may be authorised to provide consultations and care in a mobile unit according to a pre-established programme.

The application for authorisation is sent to the departmental council in whose area the planned activity is located. The council checks that the doctor has taken all the necessary steps to respond to emergencies and guarantee the quality, safety and continuity of care for the patients under his care.

Authorisation is personal and non-transferable. It may be terminated if the conditions set out in the previous two paragraphs are no longer met.

The departmental council on whose roll the doctor is registered is informed of the application if it concerns a locality in another department.

L’exercice de la médecine foraine est interdit.

Toutefois, quand les nécessités de la santé publique l’exigent, un médecin peut être autorisé à dispenser des consultations et des soins dans une unité mobile selon un programme établi à l’avance.

La demande d’autorisation est adressée au conseil départemental dans le ressort duquel se situe l’activité envisagée. Celui-ci vérifie que le médecin a pris toutes dispositions pour répondre aux urgences, garantir la qualité, la sécurité et la continuité des soins aux patients qu’il prend en charge.

L’autorisation est personnelle et incessible. Il peut y être mis fin si les conditions fixées aux deux alinéas précédents ne sont plus réunies.

Le conseil départemental au tableau duquel le médecin est inscrit est informé de la demande lorsque celle-ci concerne une localité située dans un autre département.
