Article R4127-78 of the French Public Health Code

When participating in an on-call, emergency or on-call service, the doctor must make every effort to be reached as quickly as possible.

To facilitate his work, he is authorised to affix a removable plate to his vehicle bearing the words “emergency doctor” to the exclusion of all others. He must remove it as soon as his involvement in the emergency ends.

He must keep the patient’s usual doctor informed of his intervention under the conditions set out in article R. 4127-59.

Lorsqu’il participe à un service de garde, d’urgences ou d’astreinte, le médecin doit prendre toutes dispositions pour être joint au plus vite.

Il est autorisé, pour faciliter sa mission, à apposer sur son véhicule une plaque amovible portant la mention ” médecin urgences “, à l’exclusion de toute autre. Il doit la retirer dès que sa participation à l’urgence prend fin.

Il doit tenir informé de son intervention le médecin habituel du patient dans les conditions prévues à l’article R. 4127-59.
