Article R4216-2-3 of the French Labour Code

A level of a workplace is exempt from the obligation to have safe waiting areas or equivalent spaces when it meets one of the following conditions:

1° It is located on the ground floor and has a sufficient number of exits, as provided for in article R. 4216-8, which are accessible to disabled people;

2° It has at least two compartments, as referred to in article R. 4216-27, with sufficient capacity to accommodate the number of disabled people likely to be present. Passage from one compartment to the other is safe in the event of fire and is possible regardless of disability.

Un niveau d’un lieu de travail est exempté de l’obligation d’être doté d’espaces d’attente sécurisés ou d’espaces équivalents quand il remplit l’une des conditions suivantes :


1° Il est situé en rez-de-chaussée et comporte un nombre suffisant de dégagements, prévus à l’article R. 4216-8, accessibles aux personnes handicapées ;


2° Il comporte au moins deux compartiments, mentionnés à l’article R. 4216-27, dont la capacité d’accueil est suffisante eu égard au nombre de personnes handicapées susceptibles d’être présentes. Le passage d’un compartiment à l’autre se fait en sécurité en cas d’incendie et est possible quel que soit le handicap.
