Article R4216-9 of the French Labour Code

For premises located in basements where the number of people exceeds one hundred, clearances are determined on the basis of the number of people calculated as follows:
1° The number of people is rounded up to the nearest hundred;
2° The number of people is increased by 10% per metre or fraction of a metre beyond a depth of two metres.

Pour les locaux situés en sous-sol et dont l’effectif est supérieur à cent personnes, les dégagements sont déterminés en prenant pour base l’effectif ainsi calculé :
1° L’effectif des personnes est arrondi à la centaine supérieure ;
2° L’effectif est majoré de 10 % par mètre ou fraction de mètre au-delà de deux mètres de profondeur.
