Article R4223-8 of the French Labour Code

Appropriate measures are taken to protect workers against glare and visual fatigue caused by high luminance surfaces or by excessive luminance ratios between neighbouring surfaces.
Lighting sources must provide a quality of colour rendering appropriate to the activity to be carried out and must not compromise the safety of workers.
Fluctuating light must not be perceptible or cause a stroboscopic effect.

Les dispositions appropriées sont prises pour protéger les travailleurs contre l’éblouissement et la fatigue visuelle provoqués par des surfaces à forte luminance ou par des rapports de luminance trop importants entre surfaces voisines.
Les sources d’éclairage assurent une qualité de rendu des couleurs en rapport avec l’activité prévue et ne doivent pas compromettre la sécurité des travailleurs.
Les phénomènes de fluctuation de la lumière ne doivent pas être perceptibles ni provoquer d’effet stroboscopique.
