Article R4227-46 of the French Labour Code

The employer shall assess the risks created or likely to be created by explosive atmospheres, taking into account at least:
1° The probability that explosive atmospheres may occur and persist;
2° The probability that ignition sources, including electrostatic discharges, may occur and become active and effective;
3° The installations, substances and preparations used, the processes and any interactions between them;
4° The extent of the foreseeable consequences of an explosion.

L’employeur évalue les risques créés ou susceptibles d’être créés par des atmosphères explosives en tenant compte au moins :
1° De la probabilité que des atmosphères explosives puissent se présenter et persister ;
2° De la probabilité que des sources d’inflammation, y compris des décharges électrostatiques, puissent se présenter et devenir actives et effectives ;
3° Des installations, des substances et préparations utilisées, des procédés et de leurs interactions éventuelles ;
4° De l’étendue des conséquences prévisibles d’une explosion.
