Advanced practice nurses have broader skills than state-qualified nurses, validated by the state diploma for advanced practice nurses awarded by universities under the conditions defined in articles D. 636-73 to D. 636-81 of the Education Code.
They take part in the overall care of patients whose follow-up is entrusted to them by a doctor. However, in the “emergencies” field, the procedures for patient management are specified by the provisions of article R. 4301-3-1. The diagnostic approach and therapeutic choices are defined by this doctor and implemented under the conditions defined in this article and in articles R. 4301-2 to R. 4301-7 and D. 4301-8.
In accordance with the patient care pathway coordinated by the attending doctor mentioned inarticle L. 162-5-3 of the Social Security Code, the advanced practice nurse provides his/her expertise and participates, in collaboration with all the professionals involved in patient care, in the organisation of pathways between primary care, primary or secondary care specialists and health or medico-social establishments and services.
