Article R4311-36 of the French Public Health Code

The purpose of the aptitude test is to verify, by means of written or oral examinations, that the person concerned has an appropriate knowledge of the subjects on the syllabus of the evidence of formal qualifications required to practise the profession in France, which were not initially taught to him or which he did not acquire in the course of his professional experience.

The purpose of the adaptation period is to enable the persons concerned to acquire the knowledge defined in the previous paragraph. It comprises a practical training period carried out under the responsibility of a qualified professional, possibly accompanied by additional theoretical training.

L’épreuve d’aptitude a pour objet de vérifier au moyen d’épreuves écrites ou orales que l’intéressé fait preuve d’une connaissance appropriée des matières figurant au programme du titre de formation permettant l’exercice de la profession en France, qui ne lui ont pas été enseignées initialement ou qu’il n’a pas acquises au cours de son expérience professionnelle.

Le stage d’adaptation a pour objet de permettre aux intéressés d’acquérir les connaissances définies à l’alinéa précédent. Il comprend un stage pratique effectué sous la responsabilité d’un professionnel qualifié, accompagné éventuellement d’une formation théorique complémentaire.
