Article R4312-83 of the French Public Health Code

A nurse may only be temporarily replaced by a colleague who may or may not have set up practice. In the latter case, and without prejudice to the rules relating to health insurance, the replacement must hold a replacement authorisation, for a renewable period of one year, issued by the departmental council of the order in which he or she is registered.

The replacement nurse may not replace more than two nurses at the same time, including in a nurses’ association or group practice.

All replacement contracts are forwarded by the replacement nurse and the nurse being replaced to the departmental council or councils with which they are registered.

Un infirmier ne peut se faire remplacer que temporairement par un confrère avec ou sans installation professionnelle. Dans ce dernier cas, et sans préjudice des règles relatives à l’assurance-maladie, le remplaçant doit être titulaire d’une autorisation de remplacement, pour une durée d’un an renouvelable, délivrée par le conseil départemental de l’ordre auquel il est inscrit.

L’infirmier remplaçant ne peut remplacer plus de deux infirmiers en même temps, y compris dans une association d’infirmiers ou un cabinet de groupe.

Tout contrat de remplacement est transmis, par l’infirmier remplaçant et l’infirmier remplacé, au conseil départemental ou aux conseils départementaux auxquels ils sont inscrits.
