The councils of the order are elected for a six-year term by direct suffrage in a single-round majority binominal election, half of which is renewed every three years. Each pair is made up of candidates of different sexes.
Subject to the adaptations made necessary, in particular, by the division of the electorate into two colleges, the first representing masseur-physiotherapists registered as self-employed, the second those registered as salaried employees, the procedures for elections to the councils and disciplinary chambers of the Order of masseur-physiotherapists are those laid down by the provisions of Chapter V of Title II of Book I for elections to the councils and disciplinary chambers of the Order of Physicians.
Retired masseur-physiotherapists are assigned to the college to which they belonged at the time of their retirement. If they have retained or resumed an activity, they are assigned to the college to which this activity belongs.
Masseur-physiotherapists who are both self-employed and employed belong to the first college.
