Independently of the personal medical file provided for in article L. 161-36-1 of the Social Security Code, the masseur-physiotherapist keeps a personal file for each patient; it is confidential and contains the up-to-date information required for diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.
In all cases, these documents are kept under the responsibility of the masseur-physiotherapist. Subject to the provisions applicable to health establishments, physiotherapy records are kept under the responsibility of the physiotherapist who drew them up or who is responsible for them. If a practice is not taken over, the medical documents are sent to the Conseil Départemental de l’Ordre, which becomes the guarantor.
With the patient’s consent, the masseur-physiotherapist will pass on to other masseurs-physiotherapists and doctors whom he intends to consult, any information and documents that are useful for continuity of care.
