Article R4322-1 of the French Labour Code

Work equipment and means of protection, whoever uses it, must be maintained in a state of compliance with the technical rules of design and construction applicable when it is put into service in the establishment, including with regard to the instruction manual.
These provisions are without prejudice to the application of the rules of use set out in Chapter IV.

Les équipements de travail et moyens de protection, quel que soit leur utilisateur, sont maintenus en état de conformité avec les règles techniques de conception et de construction applicables lors de leur mise en service dans l’établissement, y compris au regard de la notice d’instructions.
Ces dispositions ne font pas obstacle à l’application des règles d’utilisation prévues au chapitre IV.
