Article R434-34 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

To be admitted to French territory, the members of the foreign national’s family must be in possession of the entry visa issued by the diplomatic and consular authority. Authorisation for family reunification is deemed to have lapsed if the family does not enter French territory within three months of the visa being issued.

Pour être admis sur le territoire français, les membres de la famille de l’étranger doivent être munis du visa d’entrée délivré par l’autorité diplomatique et consulaire. L’autorisation du regroupement familial est réputée caduque si l’entrée de la famille sur le territoire français n’est pas intervenue dans un délai de trois mois à compter de la délivrance du visa.
