Orthoptics involves exploring, re-educating and rehabilitating vision, possibly using equipment, in order to treat visual function anomalies.

In the course of their work, orthoptists are authorised to carry out interviews and gather information about patients and their families, while respecting professional confidentiality.

Where necessary, orthoptic treatment is accompanied by appropriate advice for the patient’s immediate family and friends.

L’orthoptie consiste en des actes d’exploration, de rééducation et de réadaptation de la vision utilisant éventuellement des appareils et destinés à traiter les anomalies de la fonction visuelle.

Dans son activité, l’orthoptiste est habilité à réaliser un interrogatoire et à recueillir les informations concernant le patient et son entourage dans le respect du secret professionnel.

La prise en charge orthoptique est accompagnée, le cas échéant, de conseils appropriés à l’entourage proche du patient.
