The orthoptist alone is authorised, on medical prescription and after carrying out the assessment described in Article R. 4342-2, to provide orthoptic treatment for :
1° strabismus ;
2° oculomotor paralysis ;
3° amblyopia ;
4° Heterophoria ;
5° Binocular vision disorders and imbalances;
6° neurosensorial, fusional and accommodative disorders;
7° Eye orientation and eye movement disorders;
8° Neuro-ophthalmological or neuro-visual disorders;
9° Neuro-ophthalmological consequences of general pathologies;
10° Visual communication disorders;
11° visual deficiencies of peripheral or neuro-ophthalmological origin (low vision).
The orthoptist will inform the prescribing doctor of any adjustments to be made to the treatment depending on the patient’s progress and state of health, and of the progress of the orthoptic treatment at the end of the last session provided for in the treatment plan drawn up during the assessment.
