Article R4342-8-3 of the French Public Health Code

The orthoptist may carry out the amblyopia screening mentioned in 2° of article L. 4342-1 for children aged between 9 and 15 months and the refractive disorder screening mentioned in the same 2° for children aged between 30 months and 5 years.

If there are any signs that the child’s vision is outside the normal range, the orthoptist will refer the child to an ophthalmologist.

L’orthoptiste peut réaliser le dépistage de l’amblyopie mentionné au 2° de l’article L. 4342-1 pour les enfants âgés de 9 à 15 mois et le dépistage des troubles de la réfraction mentionné au même 2° pour les enfants âgés de 30 mois à 5 ans.

En cas de signe évocateur hors des limites de la normale, l’orthoptiste oriente l’enfant vers un médecin ophtalmologiste.
