Article R4534-107 of the French Labour Code

The provisions of this sub-section apply when work is carried out in the vicinity of electrical lines, pipes and installations:
1° Located outside premises and in the low-voltage A area (BTA), i.e. whose voltage exceeds 50 volts, without exceeding 500 volts in alternating current, or exceeds 120 volts, without exceeding 750 volts in smooth direct current;
2° Located outside or inside premises and in the low-voltage B area (BTB), i.e. whose voltage exceeds 500 volts, without exceeding 1,000 volts in alternating current, or exceeds 750 volts, without exceeding 1,500 volts in smooth direct current;
3° Located outside or inside premises and in the high voltage A (HTA) range, i.e. with a voltage exceeding 1,000 volts alternating current without exceeding 50,000 volts or exceeding 1,500 volts without exceeding 75,000 volts direct current;
4° Located outside or inside premises and in the high voltage B (HTB) range, i.e. with a voltage exceeding 50,000 volts alternating current or exceeding 75,000 volts direct current.

Les dispositions de la présente sous-section s’appliquent lors de l’exécution de travaux au voisinage de lignes, canalisations et installations électriques :
1° Situées à l’extérieur de locaux et du domaine basse tension A (BTA), c’est-à-dire dont la tension excède 50 volts, sans dépasser 500 volts en courant alternatif, ou excède 120 volts, sans dépasser 750 volts en courant continu lisse ;
2° Situées à l’extérieur ou à l’intérieur de locaux et du domaine basse tension B (BTB), c’est-à-dire dont la tension excède 500 volts, sans dépasser 1 000 volts en courant alternatif, ou excède 750 volts, sans dépasser 1 500 volts en courant continu lisse ;
3° Situées à l’extérieur ou à l’intérieur de locaux et du domaine haute tension A (HTA), c’est-à-dire dont la tension excède 1 000 volts en courant alternatif sans dépasser 50 000 volts ou excède 1 500 volts sans dépasser 75 000 volts en courant continu lisse ;
4° Situées à l’extérieur ou à l’intérieur de locaux et du domaine haute tension B (HTB), c’est-à-dire dont la tension excède 50 000 volts en courant alternatif ou excède 75 000 volts en courant continu lisse.
