When the natural ventilation of a gallery being excavated is insufficient, the atmosphere is purified by means of a mechanical ventilation system.
This ventilation system ensures a minimum air flow of twenty-five litres per second per man at the working face.
The air introduced is taken far from any source of pollution.

Lorsque l’aération naturelle d’une galerie en cours de percement est insuffisante, l’assainissement de l’atmosphère est obtenu au moyen d’une installation de ventilation mécanique.
Cette installation de ventilation assure au front de taille un débit minimal d’air de vingt-cinq litres par seconde et par homme.
L’air introduit est prélevé loin de toute source de pollution.
