Article R512-18 of the French Intellectual Property Code

In the event of non-compliance of an application for registration, reasoned notification shall be given to the applicant.

The applicant shall be given a period in which to regularise the application or submit observations. In the absence of regularisation or observations enabling the objection to be removed, the application shall be rejected by decision of the Director General of the National Institute of Industrial Property.

The notification may be accompanied by a proposal for regularisation. This proposal shall be deemed accepted if the applicant does not contest it within the time limit set.

En cas de non-conformité d’une demande d’inscription, notification motivée en est faite au demandeur.

Un délai lui est imparti pour régulariser sa demande ou présenter des observations. A défaut de régularisation ou d’observations permettant de lever l’objection, la demande est rejetée par décision du directeur général de l’Institut national de la propriété industrielle.

La notification peut être assortie d’une proposition de régularisation. Cette proposition est réputée acceptée si le déposant ne la conteste pas dans le délai qui lui est imparti.
