Registration is valid for five years. It is renewable, where appropriate, without time limit, unless the Director General of the Agency decides at the time of renewal to proceed with an additional renewal for justified reasons relating to pharmacovigilance and on the basis of a reassessment of the quality, safety or homeopathic use of the medicinal product in the case of homeopathic medicinal products or of the risk-benefit balance of the medicinal product as defined in the first paragraph of article L. 5121-9 in the case of traditional herbal medicinal products. In this case, the additional renewal takes place five years after this decision.
The application for renewal is sent to the Director General of the Agency no later than six months before the registration expires. It shall be accompanied by an updated dossier containing administrative information and data relating to the quality, safety and homeopathic use of the medicinal product in the case of homeopathic medicinal products or to the quality, safety and efficacy of the medicinal product in the case of traditional herbal medicinal products, including all changes recorded since the initial registration or previous renewal. The content of the renewal dossier is laid down by order of the Minister for Health on a proposal from the Director General of the Agency.
Registration is not renewed if the assessment of the quality, safety or homeopathic use of the medicinal product in the case of homeopathic medicinal products or the benefit/risk balance of the medicinal product in the case of traditional herbal medicinal products, carried out by the Director General of the Agency, is no longer favourable.
