Without prejudice to the information required by other legislative or regulatory provisions, the container and packaging of each unit of tattooing product placed on the market free of charge or against payment must include the following information, written in such a way as to be legible, comprehensible and indelible:
1° The name of the product ;
2° The nominal content at the time of packaging, indicated by mass or volume;
3° The date of maximum durability, defined as the date until which the product, stored under appropriate conditions, continues to fulfil its initial function and in particular remains compliant with the provisions of article L. 513-10-4. The date of maximum durability is indicated by the words: “To be used before the end of”, followed either by the date itself, or by an indication of where it appears on the labelling. Where necessary, this information is supplemented by an indication of the conditions that must be met to ensure the durability indicated. The date is made up of the month and year, in clear order;
4° The production batch number or the reference enabling the production to be identified;
5° The wording “sterile”;
6° The name or company name and address of the person responsible for marketing a tattooing product established in France. These details may be abbreviated where the abbreviation enables the company to be identified. If there is more than one address, the underlined address designates the location of the file provided for in the third paragraph of article L. 513-10-5;
7° Special precautions for use, in particular those provided for in the list mentioned in 2° of article R. 513-10-4;
8° The list of ingredients in descending order of weight at the time of incorporation, preceded by the word “ingredients”. Ingredients with a concentration of less than 1% may be listed in any order after those with a concentration of more than 1%.
Colouring substances are designated by their Colour Index (CI) number or, failing this, by their international chemical name (IUPAC), their name according to the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI), their Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) number or by their usual chemical name.
Ingredients other than colouring substances are designated by their international chemical name (IUPAC) or, failing this, by their name in the European Pharmacopoeia, their CAS number or by their usual chemical name.
The following are not considered as ingredients
a) Impurities contained in the raw materials used;
b) Subsidiary technical substances used during manufacture but not included in the composition of the finished product;
9° Where applicable, the telephone or fax numbers or the Internet address where the information provided for in article R. 513-10-14 is made available to the public.
Where this is not practical, the addresses mentioned in 6° and the information provided for in 7°, 8° and 9° may only appear on the packaging or on an enclosed medium.
